Yea; Nothing against building from source, but I just want to learn to run ProView and run some test with modbus/tcp or maybe profibus. In the future, if I need the latest release I'll take that course.
I tried to force the .deb file with --force-depends, but I ended up with broken pwr48 package. It would be nice to install the latest ProView package on the latest LTS Ubuntu distro. I guess beggars can't be choosers.
I decided to install pwr47...followed instructions here
http://www.proview.se/index.php?option=com_joomlaboard&Itemid=24&func=view&id=741&catid=5 to satisfy libmysqlclient15off dependency, and everything installed Ok.
What's the chances of getting ProView in the Ubuntu repositories?
I'll be in touch with more questions I'm sure. Thank you very much for your help!
