Hi,
I've been running my project for some years on Ubuntu 10.04 and Proview release 4.8.
For various reasons I've decided to make a clean installation on a new drive of the latest Ubuntu LTS and Proview 5.6. Is there a quick way to transfer the project to the new drive or must I install release 4.8, copy the project then update stepwise through all the Proview releases??
Any advice welcome,
Regards,
Stephen

Hi Silvaphoenix,

I don't know if this is the right way but each I upgrade, I usually :
- dump my rootvolume in previous install
- make a clean install
- load back my root volume into new release

If your development station is using a single project or if volume ID don't conflict you can just transfer your global volume list file and project definition config file from old release to new one.

Switching from 4.8 to 5.6.1 will unfortunately make a lot of change in basic libraries (I have in mind at least the PID regulator which made me some headaches last year) so you will need to adjust few modules by hand if module input / outptu or internal attributes don't matches between version.

I know there is also an upgrade.sh script also dedicated to upgrade from a version to another one but I never used it personally as dump / reload is really straight forward in my opinion.

best regards
Snarf
