Some guidance is needed on how to configure a mount object of a volume located on a node from a different project. Both nodes are on the same bus and share the same global definition file. All kinds of configurations have been tried, including external volume, friend nodes and mount objects. So far, the correct combination has not been discovered.

Hi Ron,

Create FriendNodeConfig objects in both projects and state nodename, address and volume. Both nodes have to be restarted before the connection is established. In rt_xtt, System/Nethandler/Link you should be able to see the link and it should be Up.

When you create the MountObject, the Object has to be inserted as an identity. Select the object that you want to mount and enter the command 'show objid'. This will show the identity in the form 1.2.3.4:5555. Insert the identity with the prefix _O, eg _O1.2.3.4:5555.

Claes,

Got it working! Using the 'show objid' command was the missing piece of the puzzle.

For the forum's benefit, we use an ExtFloat32 signal in PLC code to pull data over from the outside mounted object volume. Unlike mount objects of volumes within a project, mount objects of volumes outside of a project do not immediately populate an object tree while off-line. The same configuration behavior is seen when configuring OPCXMLDA clients.

Thanks again!
