I'm using latest and greatest Ubuntu 16.04LTS with 5.5 for this and I'm getting a crash that looks very much like a re-occurrence of this (just different versions):

In my case, *any* attempt to launch the GE causes the crash. On a new volume, it worked, unless I tried to start it from xttgraph.

Upgrading from 5.5.0-1.0 to 5.5.0-1.2 seems to have solved this problem.
