I am having trouble using this combo to poll a ModbusTCP device.

Anyone got this working?

Sorry for that you didn't get an answer on this. I've tested with the Debian-version v4.8 without problem. I didn't try the Fedora-version. I'm not sure if Claes made a test with the Fedora.

Hi Ben,

I tried Fedora last night and I didn't manage to make it work. I tried to connect a Modbus client on Fedora to a Proview Modbus server on Ubuntu and there was a connect request but the connection was instantly closed. Then I tried the same configuration on an Ubuntu client insted and it worked perfectly well. Until we have solved this problem Ubuntu or Debian seems to be a better choice if you want to run Modbus TCP.

This sound like the behaviour that I was seeing too.
Unfortunately for me I have fedora everywhere. Looks like I'll be doing a rebuild to try ubuntu.
Let me know what you find and if you need help testing. Willing to help out.

Meantime I'm trying to keep my feet dry here in Queensland.

Hi Claes / Robert,

I installed Ubuntu 10.10 and tested the modbusTCP with my devices. Pleased to report that this worked fine. I'm now reading and writing digitals and reading analogs. nice.

Obviously, this confirms to me that it what I configured on Fedora 14 was correct (I have done the same on Ubuntu), indicating Proview on Fedora is broken. Hard to imagine how the basic socket communications between these two would be different... but I'm looking forward to a fix for this...

Meantime, diving into learning Proview on ubuntu.
