TOPIC: Volume built before node

Volume built before node 5 years 1 month ago #10212

Hello all,
I've run into a bit of a snag.
I'm trying to distribute a system, and on one of the nodes I'm getting an error like the following:
Distribute Errors: The Volume has been built before the node

And then it won't send the package to the node.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,

There is an error message 'Volume is built after the node' when the date for the dbs-file is more recent than the date for the ld_boot file. Rebuilding the node should fix the problem.

Claes,
As always, thanks for your reply. Yes, your corrected answer is the one. I was working (poorly) from memory.

Regrettably, rebuilding the node isn't fixing the issue.
I'll look at the stamps and see if there is something wonky going on.

Thanks,
Matt

Claes,
This is Proview 5.5.0-1.2 on Ubuntu 16.04LTS

I used touch on the dbs file which worked, but as soon as I rebuilt it, the date (both modified and accessed) changed to that time. The ld_boot_name_id#.dat has an original create date that doesn't look like it has changed from the original date. The modified date is relatively current.

When I rebuilt the node, the date moved forward and the error was triggered upon distribution.

I'm not sure what I did, but I'm sad I did it!

Thanks,
Matt

Matt,

The dates compared are actually stored in the files. The ld_boot file is a text file with the creation date in the first row. The dbs-file has to be examined with wb_ldlist where the creation date is listed on the first line

> wb_ldlist $pwrp_load/somevolume.dbs

Also check the directory volume configuration, that you don't have two nodes with the same name or the same volume on the bus.

Claes,
Thanks for the help.
Somehow I'm recompiling the volumes and changing the dbs creation date(because now it has happened more than once, on different volumes) and a recompile of the node didn't solve the problem.
I had to manually modify the ld_boot file date to stop the pain.

I'm sure that there is something I'm doing wrong, but I'm not sure what it is.

Anyway, I can tell you my system is working well so far!

Thanks again,
Matt
